Latest News
We continue to be busy in the yard. Bally Conn, Bankers Bonus, Inspector Qics and Beat the System are turned out for the summer with work resuming late August in preparation for the winter jumps season. Makin' A Fuss will be joining them shortly.
This week we welcome into training Gunpark for Rebecca Welch, Twas Tyson for David Bryant and Safe Catch for Eddie and Carol Rice. They have been pointing all winter and will now go

Detroit Red (4 yo homebred)
 | two starts at Chepstow and Newton Abbot this season. She also won Best Turned Out for Matt Herbert, who has worked her from the beginning. Detroit Red is a 4 yo homebred by Hamairi/Kingston Black. Darfour, after quite a time off since hurdling at Exeter in a bog last winter, came fourth on the flat at Wolverhampton and Apex continues in great heart and always trying with runs at Bath and Chepstow for a fourth. He will win again in due course as his handicap mark has now dropped to what it was when he won five in a row for us.
But pride of place in this article must go to Red Twist, (Spider to his friends) who won a Class 4 Novices' Hurdle race at Newton Abbot on the 11th May having won a point to point this winter. Jointly owned by Martin and Erin Niering, it has taken two years to get Spider 'right' but with the combination of gentle care, swimming and lunging with Erin and our gallops - they have now got an exciting prospect to go racing with. We always did say 'if anyone can, Spider Man can' and how right he has proved us.

Doncaster Sales
I have just returned from Doncaster sales again having sold Wabbraan last week to race in Kuwait for £2500. This week we took Vintage Tea to the Spring Store Sale. He sold quite well at £7,500 to Tom Malone (jockey/bloodstock agent) who is not sure which yard he goes to yet. We will keep you up to date as we very much wanted to keep him at Knaves Ash and believe he should train on well. Martin bought him as yearling from Doncaster Sales.
The horse from the Horses in Training sale that I thought was value was one of Ferdy Murphy's draft, called Viel Gluck by Supreme Leader. He was sore in withers and back but with t.l.c. should reward those who paid £7,200 for him being handily handicapped over hurdles and fences.
In the Stores Sale two to look out for are Lot 118, a 4yo Flemensfirth gelding out of a winning Erins Isle mare. He was a very athletic horse who sold to GH Bloodstock for £37,000 and at the less expensive end I liked lot 23, a Fleetwood gelding out of a Sadlers Wells mare who has produced four winners. He was sold to Chris Bealby for £7,500. |

Future Entries and Plans
On Thursday June 3rd we have entries for Detroit Red and Mr Straffan at Newton Abbot (afternoon meet) and the following Monday the 7th June, again at Newton Abbot in the afternoon, we have an entry for Red Twist. We would love to see you there if you can come.
Subject to his racing commitments we also have Gary Witheford in the yard next week to give us some invaluable loading assistance. 'With over 25 years experience, initially in racing and then working and studying with the pioneers of new

And Finally
Thank you for your support. And congratulations to Charles Hackett (The Inspector's owner) on two accounts. Firstly for being able to hold a Bus Pass party on 12 June and on the same day celebrate his marriage to Sarah and secondly for the promotion of Exeter Chiefs to the premiership from which his headache is only just receding. May you live long and prosper!
Happy Racing.
